Nexus One users have began seeing OTA updates coming to their handset for Android 2.2 Froyo, and those who haven’t should by the end of the week, according to the Nexus One Blog. Among the new features included in Android 2.2 are Adobe Flash support, a tethering/hotspot function, and increased speed overall.

Joining other major carriers across the country, Verizon Wireless will also be offering up the Samsung Galaxy S, known under their network as the Samsung Fascinate. The device will launch running Android 2.1, and doesn’t leave anything behind when it comes to specifications – 1GHz processor, “4 Super AMOLED display, 5MP camera with HD video capture, etc.

No word yet on pricing or exact availability, but if Verizon follows the current Galaxy S launch trend, we should see it in August at the latest.

Sprint and Samsung have officially announced that they will soon be offering the Samsung Epic 4G, otherwise known as the Galaxy S Pro. The new Android handset features a full QWERTY slide-out  keyboard and 4″ Super AMOLED display, along with 4G connectivity on Sprint’s network. Also packed into the handset are a 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, and 5MP camera capable of 720p video recording.

Other details released are that it will come running Android 2.1, with some Samsung tweaks such as their “Social Hub” running within their Touchwiz 3.0 interface. Fans of the Swype keyboard will be happy to know it will come pre-installed on the Epic 4G. Additionally, the device will come with new 6-axis control, which should eventually make for an interesting gaming experience.

T-Mobile has officially announced the launch of their newest Samsung Android handset – the Vibrant Galaxy S. The device, which runs on Android 2.1, will be available on July 21st for $199 on a new 2 year contract, and features a 4″ Super AMOLED display.

For those purchasing the device on T-Mobile, the device will come preloaded with The Sims 3 Collector’s Edition and a microSD card with a copy of Avatar  on it.

Apparently T-Mobile has provided training to employees for a new Android powered Motorola device named the “Charm”. While very little information is available on the rumored handset, screenshots were captured showing the physical design to have a textured QWERTY keyboard in a candybar form.

According to the screenshots, the device will run Motoblur, though it has additional features like the widget resizing capabilities we saw in the Droid X video.

Should this be confirmed, it definitely takes a new direction in the trends we’ve seen lately as far as physical layouts go, but options never hurt anyone.

In addition to the impressive level count, this game adds a lot of small things to the experience, from haptic feedback when you hit a wall, to the viewing angle shifting with your movements to replicate a real-life game board.

Levels

There are enough maps loaded into this game to keep you busy for hours. Even the easy levels prove challenging as you get used to the controls, and once your skills improve there’s still no shortage of unique maps to keep you busy. The Maze mode focuses more on finding the correct path, rather than skillful maneuvering – but beware, you shouldn’t start this mode until you’ve at least got the hang of the easy levels first. For those wondering, here’s how the map count is broken down between modes:

Effects
As soon as you play your first level, you’ll notice some cool effects that make the game as realistic as possible. Haptic feedback occurs when the ball hits an edge – just the right amount to feel like it’s an actual labyrinth game board. If your sound is turned up, you’ll also hear the ball hitting the edges as though it really is a wooden board. The last really noticeable effect is the viewing angle, which changes based on your movements to simulate what you’d see if the game board was real.

Settings
Gameplay settings are straight forward, an compliment an array of low and high-end Android devices. You can toggle the vibration/sound, 3D board movement, and even modify the tilt sensitivity. If you think the accelerometer doesn’t feel just right, you can also calibrate it by using a simple built-in option.

Overall, aTilt 3D Labyrinth is a simple, yet great game that will keep you occupied for hours. The full version is available in Android Market for $2.99 USD, or you can try out the lite version first for free.

According to a new rumor, HTC is working on a new Android handset that will boast a dual-core 800MHz processor. Far exceeding any technology we’ve seen within current devices, this handset could shape up to be an amazing device. The new device would be offered by T-Mobile, and is expected to launch later this year. Other rumored specifications include a 4.3″ display, and 8MP camera, but details are sparse on anything further.

Could this device compete with the 2GHz Motorola handset speculated for launch later this year?

Rumors are flying everywhere about new Android handsets, and this is one of them we can only hope is true. Apparently Motorola is working on releasing an Android device that has a 2GHz processor packed inside. Not only that, there’s a possibility it will launch by the end of 2010.

Since we haven’t seen a device launch yet with a processor beyond 1GHz, this may seem a little far fetched, but with other rumors pointing to HTC working on devices with 1.5GHz and dual-core 800MHz processors, this might actually come to fruition.

So what else might come packed inside a device with a 2GHz processor? Odds are HD recording and playback, a super AMOLED display, and a workhorse GPU – but all that’s just adding to the speculation.

According to an official Sprint blog post, “work on finalizing the software is under way” – referring to Android 2.2 Froyo. While the initial post didn’t mention much on hardware besides that the Evo 4G would be getting it, comments by the original poster later confirmed that the Samsung Moment and HTC Hero won’t be seeing the updated version.

For Evo 4G users, let’s hope “near future” means a few weeks. It would be nice to see this update pushed out before Verizon’s Droid X gets it sometime in August.
